SPICY APPLE FRENCH TOAST5 Tbsp. Butter 2 large baking apples, sliced 1 cup brown sugar 1 tsp. Cinnamon 2 Tbsp. Dark Karo syrup 8 1-inch slices French bread 1 tsp. Vanilla 3 large eggs 1 cup milk The day before serving in large heavy pan, melt butter and add apple slices. Cook, stirring until tender. Add brown sugar, corn syrup and cinnamon to apples. Cook until sugar dissolves. Pour into 13x9” pan. Arrange bread slices in one layer on top of apple mixture. In medium bowl, beat eggs, milk and vanilla. Pour over bread slices. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerator. Next morning heat oven to 375. Remove plastic wrap and bake 30 to 35 minutes or until toast is browned and firm. Cool in pan for 5 minutes. Invert on serving tray. |
